We began with just shadows and sticks.
The girls snapped twigs while The Eldest picked the sturdy ones and laid them down in the shape of a triangle.
"The ends must overlap," he reminded me in his most serious, engineering tone.
Thus the twig tower began with a triangle base.
"We should build two towers," The Eldest suggested.
"One for the ponies and another for large fairies or gnomes," he added.
"Or animals?" I asked.
"Yes, squirrels," he replied.
"Remember to keep overlapping the twigs at the edges," he reminded me.
So the tiny tower was finished.
An upright twig awaits the addition of flag- "to show it is for ponies," piped The Eldest.
The Gnome brought her favorite pink pony to be its first colonist.
The big tower- the one for fairies and gnomes- grew to the height of our shins.
"I wish it were taller," The Prophet complained.
"Then make your own wish come true," I suggested.
Because the height of your twig tower is up to no one except you.
